What do you think of this?

There was a huge discussion about it on the LITA (Library and Information Technology Association) listserv. I like it much better than the ones where she isn't reading.

I guess Wyoming is still the "wild west."

What did they say about it on the LITA listserv? Initially it raised my hackles, but it definitely is attention getting and really what's wrong with making the image of the public library a little sexier. Isn't that what we're trying to do with all the glitzy tech? or maybe they're just trying to inspire more truckers to use library services...

It seemed fairly even in the like and dislike remarks. Many thought it was a great way to get attention from folks that might not normally think of coming to the library. From what I gathered, it was primarily to market the Chilton database that is available statewide.

Others felt that it was demeaning to women. But one of the best remarks was from a woman who said that it showed that smart and sexy can be in the same package.

Then there were several emails that pleaded the discussion be ended since it was taking up way too much space in their mailboxes.

I think it's fabulous! We need to show that we have a sense of humor. And besides, they made one for men too.

So, what does the one for men look like? If it's just the same mudflap pose, then it's just a politcally correct CYA, or maybe they used a men working symbol? I would like to see that one.
