Mindless knitting and knitting on my mind

Watching scary movies and knitting at the same doesn't really work. It makes my hands sweat.
I was watching Civic Duty starring Peter Krause. Some people would scoff and say that it doesn't really qualify as a scary movie, but it sure messed up my knitting.

Speaking of knitting-I was so dismayed to learn that Fort Wayne's Cass Street Yarn Depot has closed. It was the last place in Fort Wayne to sell distinctive quality yarns and a variety of patterns both for the novice and the expert. You could drop in any time they were open and they would help you with interpreting pattern instructions, or selecting the proper yarn for your project. The ladies from the Depot gave me the courage to try knitting my first pair of socks and showed me how to use double pointed needles to make cords for hats. They did this even though I was never a high dollar customer. If it was cold outside, there were always women gathered around the fireplace knitting. I loved the look of surprise when I tried to unobtrusively sneak in the creaky wooden screen door in my biker leathers. Initially it ruffled a few feathers, but the proprietor soon figured out that I really was a knitter and got a kick out of seeing me arrive on my bike. I'm going to miss that place. Sigh......

There are actually two new yarn stores opening up! Knitting Off Broadway is already open, and Sarah Jane's opens January 19. I didn't know you were a knitter, Julie! You should come to our knitting group sometime: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/knitfortwayne
