Here are the driving directions :
travel southwest on US 24 to Huntington. SR 9 will join US 24 as it goes around Huntington. At the traffic light where US 24 turns, continue straight on SR 9 for about 3-½ miles more to Division Road. Turn right (west) onto Division Road and drive 7-½ miles. Then turn left (south) onto 600E. You will see the ACRES sign on the corner at 50S. Turn right (west) onto 50S and look for the ACRES parking lot on your left.
I took a solo hike there Thursday night after work. Things were much changed since the last time I was there. There were new wooden signs for all the trails, but since I entered the preserve from a different entrance the thought crossed my mind to leave a Hansel and Gretel trail of bread crumbs and I wished forPrincess Irene's magic thread under my finger. There were a number of newly fallen trees. One of them fell right across Kissing Falls and is blocking half the falls. I almost didn't recognize it. The skunk cabbage that I took pictures of in the spring are now huge as were the May Apples and Solomon's Seal. I did experience a touch of magic in the meadow around Fawn Lake. The milkweed was in bloom and for just a moment I was surrounded by butterflies and moths as they fluttered through.
