We read Skeleton Hiccups by Margery Cuyler, and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams.
We played a call and response game;
There’s a great big monster under my bed
With a floppy thing on the top of his head
With one foot up and one foot down
And it spins its hips round and around
And its arms go both far and wide
And its face looks all scrunched up too
And that ugly monster
looks a lot like YOU!
Then we voted on what sort of features the jack-o-lantern should have. Even though I've been doing these same things for 22 years, I still get a charge from the kids' response.
