I rode up to Bristol to see Daryl. I took 30 w to Warsaw and then headed north on 15. The ride up was cloudy but dry. As soon as I got to Bristol, the sun came out and it started getting more like a day off should be. I tried to sneak up on Daryl, but she saw me come in and she gave me a tour of the library. It's a lovely gem as you can see. Her office is a pretty sweet set up. Her desk faces windows on both sides, overlooking the circulation desk and the reference area with a mirror positioned to see around the corner to the rest of the library. Daryl is thriving , having just received a positive review and a healthy raise. We drove over to her cousin Linda's house, who's housebound recovering from a broken leg. Daryl stays there when the weather is too dicey for the drive home and what a lovely place to stay. Mother Mary, back in Huntington must be feeling a little lonely. I told Daryl that J and I would stop in to see her when we go to see J's parents. As soon as I climbed back on my bike to head home the sky went all gray and I was just as chilly for the ride home as I was for the ride there. I thought about stopping at Wawasee, but the idea of being around the water just didn't seem cosy so I pressed for home. Coming back on 13 was a nice change, very rural with lots of Amish farms and buggies. The Amish from this area drive a different type of closed buggy. They're a little easier to see, but you still zoom up on them pretty fast. Somehow their houses looked different, maybe because they seemed to be more clustered than the Amish from back home in Berne. Some of their horses looked as though they could stand a good dose of spring tonic. It felt really good to get home to my nice snug house where I promptly turned off the heat and opened the doors. I was expecting Ben home, but he called me and said he was staying up at school one more night to hang out with a friend of his. So, my day off was finished with a lovely glass of wine and walk in the park holding hands with J. Bliss...
