He has not learned the lesson of life who does not every day surmount a fear. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I do solemnly swear....
I do solemnly swear never to refer to the man in my life solely as "my husband" or marry a man who refers to me only as "his wife". That's a easy promise to keep since I'm not married, but the topic has come up in conversation between J and I several times. For the last 30 min. I've been listening to a couple of library patrons chatting. One of the women has mentioned her spouse at least 20 times, but never by name, only by the generic appellation of "My husband". Now, I don't know how men feel about this, but it has always bugged me. A spouse is still an individual, someone who you've promised to love, honor, and cherish. I think a good start to cherishing is recognizing them by their name, instead of just the role they fulfill for you.
