Into the Forest

I was just breathing a sigh of relief after the busy day at work and the beastly hot ride home and still had the hair dryer in my hand after a nice cool shower when everything in the house went dead. J ran down and checked the circuit breaker box, but everything looked normal. It took a 20 min. phone hold with the electric company to learn that there were 13 other homes in my immediate vicinity who were also without power. The increasing frequency of these power outages in my neighborhood reminded me of the book, Into the Forest, by Hegland. Have you noticed the recent plethora of dystopian books and movies? Does it make you at all uneasy juxtaposed with the Gulf Oil catastrophe?

Sorry I'm just now catching up on your posts. Hope you have power by now and good thing you weren't fried on the water the other day. Then I read your post about the 'kind gentlemen' who found it necessary to speak to you during your outing. What is it about jerks like that that think women riders really want to make conversation. Would they call out certain terms to a big burly guy on a bike? Gutless swine. Stay safe!
