Study in frustration
We're still waiting for a phone call from the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Ctr. I did learn that the initial consultation takes two days, but have no idea of how quickly surgery will be scheduled after that. My parents called me to say that a retired commercial pilot who attends their church has offered to help transporting them back and forth to Durham for treatments. Not only will that be an huge burden lifted, but Dad even sounded a little excited about flying over the mountains. They asked if I would go along in the four seater plane, but of course Dad didn't even really need to ask. He seems to be doing OK and is in this state of blissful appreciation. I've noticed him consciously soaking up everything around him; sunshine, the last boat ride of the year, the fall colors, but when I'm with him I've noticed that we all avoid the word last like the plague.
