Buzz Saw

Well, we're in beautiful Durham, NC and tomorrow Dad will be admitted to Duke. That is if we survive his buzz saw tonight, which is what we affectionately call his snoring. Jack, my brother in law drove us down here and then headed back home early this morning to take care of their boys. So, we're dependent on the shuttle to carry us back and forth to Duke.  Since we came down a day early we thought we would take a bus downtown and do a little sightseeing, but after standing at the bus stop for 20 min. past the time it was supposed to show and learning  that Durham just switched their whole public bus system our enthusiasm waned and we headed back to the motel to sit in the sunny courtyard and talk. Dad is a man of few words,  but as would anyone he's having some apprehension about the upcoming surgery. He's also having recurrence of some of his symptoms. It's distressing to watch his frustration while he searches for words and struggles to decipher words as he reads. While Mom and Dad napped, my sister, Carol and I headed out to stretch our legs a little. We found a charming garden shop called Witherspoon Rose Culture that sells roses exclusively. Most of the property was covered by rows and rows of roses still blooming profusely, and I could have kicked myself for leaving my camera back in my room. It was a real treat for  two northern Indiana girls to see the color green, let alone all those beautiful roses in bloom. Most of the roses were identified with name tags and  two of my favorites were called Pink Peace and Drop Dead Red.
