He has not learned the lesson of life who does not every day surmount a fear. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm starting to wish that the library would force the boss into retirement. Saying that is a bit of a moral dilemma for me because I watched the manager and asst. mngr. at another branch gang up and bully a part-time employee out of the job because she couldn't keep up with the constant barrage of computer changes. I had a strong verbal disagreement with one of them over the situation. Several months later, the forced out employee died. I'm not saying losing her job was the cause of her death, but for some elderly people, a part-time job gives them purpose and structure in their life. So, while I don't believe in older employees being forced into retirement, this situation is becoming absolutely ludicrous. The boss spent the first hour of work on Friday talking to our staff maintenance worker about work she was having done on her home, then she went home sick. She didn't even wait till Monday to call in sick Monday. She called the asst. mngr. who was on vacation, he then made phone calls to other staff to arrange their schedule to cover her evening hours. Apparently she finds it unimportant that she already made an appointment for the business college to come in at the same time as another library program is being conducted. So, guess who gets left holding the bag?!

Really makes you wonder how people make it through life doesn't it? Even worse when the higher ups just don't care.
Hope all is going well in the rest of your world since works seems like it is still a pain in the butt.
