Chalk Outline of Hope

Champagne pop, greeted with no joyous cries.
Foam dripping over the broken shards of dreams
Future building blocks, cast aside without a backward glance.
Like the toddler's impatience to take down the tower
Blade snick of rejection chills the heart
Only memory tracings left
Welts of happiness starkly proud in the numb plane.
Alone, she gazes at the moon
 The chalk outline of hope,
Borne away never to return

Hmmm, sometimes the hardest times in our lives brings out the best in our creative side. You have a talent with words. There is hope Julie. There is. Believe.

Such beautiful and heartfelt words. Even in darkness there is always light. We just have to keep believing and remembering that. Hugs for comfort and wishes for a beautiful New Year.

Elana,

Oh, I'm still believing. Today I'm hosting the movie, Chasing Ice, for Organizing For Action. The cookies are baked, the chai tea is being made, but I'm still making signs and have to gather library materials to display. I am busy, busy, busy. The sadness is overwhelming sometimes, but I refuse to lay down and die. Thanks for the New Year's wishes, and the same to you. Spring is just around the corner. Next month I'll be making a trip to visit my favorite patch of skunk cabbage. It's the very first spring miracle, so miraculous that it pops up right through the snow!
