OK, I just had a young patron here who could have been the life model for Violet
Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for all you movie buffs) If you're a little fuzzy on your
Roald Dahl characters, she was the one who wouldn't take no for an answer and grabbed the chewing gum meal that wasn't quite ready for production. At the end of her chewing gum meal, she ended up as a giant blueberry and was sent to the juicing room to be squeezed. Well, this young patron wanted whatever her eye fell upon and loudly proclaimed it for all to hear. "I want that!" I got so tired of hearing that phrase before she and
her subserviently obliging mother left that my jaw aches from being clenched.
Roald Dahl's characterization was spot on! I wanted to stand up and say, "To the juicing room with you!"
Here's what the Time obituary had to say about Roald:
DIED. Roald Dahl, 74, author of lighthearted stories for children (James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and morbidly wicked tales for adults (Someone Like You, Kiss Kiss); in Oxford, England. Dahl claimed to have entered into a conspiracy with children against adults. "It's the path to their affections," he said. "Parents and schoolteachers are the enemy."

I have a champion juicer if you want to borrow it. But please, clean it thoroughly before returning it. ;-)
Enjoyed your post -- how often we come across kids like that in the stores, etc., and it wears thin very quickly. The juicer is sounding like a good idea!
