Going to wear a groove in 69

I took Chrish to Indy for his orientation. We had to leave at 5:30 AM in order to get there by the 8:30 start time and we would have made it except that there an accident at the .5 mi. marker just before the 465 exit. It must have been bad since 3 fire engines and an ambulance went racing past on the birm. I jumped off at Castleton and took Allison road south, but had to stop and buy an Indy map to figure out how to get back on 465 without going too far south. We were only 20 min. late and the day turned out to be very productive. Chrish got to speak to an academic advisor for an hour instead of the scheduled 30 min. because someone else canceled. He's chosen physical therapy with a major in biology which can easily translate to another direction if he decides against the physical therapy. The idea of a doctorate in 6 years is pretty appealing, but his money could run out before then or he could just get sick of going to school. He tested out of French 1 which pleased me immensely even though after 6 years of French and 1 parent sponsored trip to Paris, he still won't speak French to me just for pure swooniness. We checked out his dorm building, but didn't get to meet his roommate which was disappointing. I got the calendar with all of his break dates which is helpful, but hit the brick wall for getting an early start on his text books. They won't mail his schedule until next week. The text books with edition numbers and ISBN's won't be listed anywhere except the campus bookstore. They must make a bundle off incoming freshmens' parents before they wise up. From my experience working at Follett's I've learned just how much of a racket the textbook trade is. The professors will require a certain edition for their classroom with no discernible changes from the previous edition (I've personally compared some of these editions page for page) and then amazingly the professor's name is listed on the copyright page - Go figure! If he gets the schedule before next weekend, it would be worth it to take a ride down on the scooter so that he can save 3-4 hundred dollars on the texts. Who knows, maybe the horngeke would care to accompany me...

I just looked at his chamber group website for the first time- very nicely done!

So, if you need a woodwind chamber group for a special event you could check out the

The concert French horn was the instrument I had to play the first year our high school marching band went to all brass. I like to tell about how I reacted during practice on the field when the teacher/conductor would say "Bells to the Bandstand!" A story that only people familiar with the French Horn and marching bands ever think is funny. Although some people will politely laugh along as I crack myself up.
