That's My Boy!

The phrase, That's my boy! sounds pretty innocuous, but it has both pleasant and unpleasant memories for me. It must have been in 91 or 92, Mark had a diabetic episode that ended up with him in the hospital being tested for stroke. He lost language in a way that he never had before from a low blood sugar. I remember being so irritated with him, that he wouldn't cooperate with me and eat something. I thought he was just screwing around until I heard him call his employer and try to tell them that he was not feeling well. He couldn't mentally compose his language in a normal way. The word endings were wrong and he could barely complete an entire sentence. That's when I knew it was time to get in the car and take him to the hospital. I took Christian along and they used him for a cognizance test with his Dad. They asked Mark what he was wearing on his head and Mark couldn't come up with any of the appropriate words, hat, baseball cap, ball cap. He did proudly say with a huge smile, "That's my boy!"

The first time I saw a thumbnail of this photo, I asked Christian if that was a pumpkin that he was kissing. He said yes, but no other explanation followed. I wonder what the real story was.
