Monday blogger flodder

This day has been the day from hell. I was sitting on the couch this morning with my cup of tea and was just opening the first page of John Irving's Last Night In Twisted River, when I started hearing an annoying dripping noise. I couldn't place where the sound was coming from until I turned on the dining room light to find water dripping rapidly from the ceiling. I ran upstairs to find the toilet overflowing and the bathroom floor flooded. Luckily J was still at home and he helped me mop and clean for the next couple of hours. Before we got it all cleaned up we even saw water pouring through the dining room light fixture, so it will need to be replaced. Hopefully I won't go home to find the entire dining room ceiling on the floor. The furniture is still dragged into the living room, shelves taken down, books stacked all over the couch, and I work until 9. This was not an auspicious start to the week.

Then I come to work to find the boss called in sick again. Last week, she switched her evening shift with the asst. mngr. because she didn't think she could "make it" for the whole day, but stayed for eight hours anyway. Apparently she really doesn't like Mondays or working the night shift.

Well- crap! That's so NOT a good day to start the week but on the bright side, you had all your whole week's full of bad stuff happen at one time so the rest of is could be wonderful!

Maybe it's time to redecorate the dining room???

Yeah, I hated the light/fan that was in the dining room anyway. Since the motor in the fan just hums a pretty tune now and doesn't fan, I'm looking at it as the opportunity to replace it with one of my choice.

The ceiling is a little more discouraging. My house is so old that it's still plaster and lath. It may be quite a bit of money to have that taken care of. I may just have to live with the ugly stain look for awhile.
