I took a ride out to my favorite lunch spot nature preserve, Fox Island. While I was walking back through the meadow after I ate, I couldn't miss the red pick-up that was doing donuts in the parking lot and throwing up clouds of dust. It seemed like a fortuitous time to get on the scooter and head out, but the red pick-up skidded backwards into a parking spot right beside me and two guys hopped out. The driver called out to me that I had a nice bike and I said, "Thanks" as I continued packing up the lunch things and putting my helmet on. Then he said that he'd take a ride. I just gave him a slight smile and started up the bike. Apparently that wasn't friendly enough because he snarled, "BITCH!" as I rode past. You better believe that I was watching my mirrors to make sure the muscled pin-head wasn't following me. J told me that I should have said my boyfriend, Killer, was on the way to meet me for lunch. Oh well, I did get to see these beautiful wild roses, a meadowlark singing his little heart out, and lots of raspberries ripening on the canes.
When I got back from lunch, the search for couth returned when the first patron I helped started picking a pimple on her nose and then wiped it on her clothing just in time to reach out and accept the card I was handing her. Ick! Just in case anyone is in doubt, no service provider wants to handle a card that you've had in your mouth, or watch you pick your nose, zits, toenails, etc. or listen to your cell phone conversation while you're asking them to provide a service for you.

Why is it that men seem to think they can comment on WHATEVER they want to, just because a woman rides a motorcycle? We stopped at a restaurant the other day on ours, and an old geezer sitting in front said to me, "You ride that thing better than any many I've ever seen." Give me a break, dude, you saw me come in the DRIVEWAY! Sigh.
Yeah, sometimes the comments are positive yet still feel intrusive, possibly they're trying to be encouraging and don't realize how patronizing it is.
