Over the last two years, the US Postal Service has been responsible for the loss of a $150 Visa card that I sent to my eldest for spring break. And you would think that I would have learned my lesson, but when I made a mistake on my youngest's income tax return and had to mail a payment after filing an amended return, I decided to purchase a Money Gram money order to send with the post filing coupon. At some time either in transit or at the IN Dept of Revenue the $672 money order dissipated into thin air. It only took me several hours of searching for documentation, stopping in at the bank where I purchased the money order to plead my case (total waste of time) and some very intense persistence on the phone with Money Gram to get them to cough up a way to expedite my refund. So, at only the cost of all my leisure and chore time this morning, the wheels have been put in motion to satisfy my debt to the IN Dept of Revenue.
So, even though mail carriers have the best legs! and I'm sure they're overworked and underpaid, they need to do better if they don't want to become obsolete.
