I drove 200 miles to take part...

A friend and I drove 200 mi. round trip to take part in the rally to support Planned Parenthood.  I took a day off work to show my disgust with the sexist legislation that Republicans are trying  to pass all across the country .There were a few hecklers vehemently opposed to Planned Parenthood, approx 10-20 as compared to the hundreds of women sporting pink buttons and signs provided by Planned Parenthood. Despite their low numbers, they didn't waste any time screaming , "Murderer! Baby Killer!" in our faces. In one of the photos you can see the hecklers at the demonstration carrying enormous glossy photographs of fetal remains. I thought it was rather telling when I asked one of the few female hecklers who supplied their signs, she said she didn't know. Hmmm.... I wish I'd gotten a picture of the signs up close,  because there was definitely a organization logo at the bottom. The same woman who didn't know who supplied the signs also said  she was unable to have children, that she'd tried to adopt, but didn't have enough money. She said that she knew a family who had seven children,  lived on 20K a year, and despite their poverty the children were fed, clothed, and clean. She claimed that women have abortions because they are selfish. I'm betting that  the family with seven children will not see any of their offspring attend college, unless of course it's at the expense of the taxpayer. Although the hecklers were few in number, they were certainly loud and verbally abusive. The screams of murderer and baby killer that continued throughout the PPIN speakers were disconcerting, but it didn't slow down any of these determined women. At one point, during the speech, one of the hecklers tried to muscle his way by shoving through the crowd to get to the steps just below the podium, but the attendees formed a human wall blocking him. The pushing and shoving was stopped by a state police officer moving the hecklers to the rear again. The hecklers gave the impression of being professionals with some big money backing, they came supplied with bullhorns and the five foot  tall glossy photographs of dead fetuses (from some unknown or at least UNNAMED benefactor). Although the experience was emotionally exhausting , I'm glad I went and my attitude remains firm. If  you don't believe in abortion, don't have one! They are legal, and the woman who is pregnant is entitled to make decisions about her own body. If you're a woman still of childbearing age, I hope you're paying attention to the fact that  the Republican party is determined to move you back into the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant whether that's where you want to be or not!

Good for you. I don't have kids and never intend to have kids. I've never used planned parenthood or other services like it, but I think women have a right to choose.

I don't think abortion should be used as a means of birth control for people that can't be bothered to use other means, but having said that I think it should be a valid option for those that need the service. I would hate to see planned parenthood or abortions become unfunded, illegal or a memory of days past.

IMHO: I think the far religious right (and others) by advocating no birth control and multiple babies for everyone are trying to over populate the world with little ones to brainwash to be exactly as they are so they can take over the world. Those of us with common sense that aren't over breeding don't have a chance of prevailing......

Just my two cents, not meant to offend anyone......
