Well, my little gad-about spring break man-child is on his way to Florida again. I certainly don't begrudge him the experience, the leisure, the good memories he's in the process of  making, but I wish that boy would keep me informed sooner than after the fact! This week he's driven me crazy with changing his plans, without informing me, then changing them again, without informing me, and now he's not coming home at all. Instead he has his own life to live in the arms of his sweetie, Molly. I hope they have a great time, but I reminded  him of Aesop's  Boy Who Cried Wolf and  not to expect any preparations the next time he makes noises about coming home. I'll believe him when I see him. I 've served my stint as a stationary home base for a long time and no one is going to force me back into that role again.  It's not that I'm totally un-domestic and I have the first tray of a batch of  pecan chocolate chip cookies in the oven right now to prove it!

A man appreciates a tolerant woman. Last summer I told my wife I was leaving to cross the midwest on my bike about 3 days before leaving. She wasn't terribly excited, but understood why. Sounds like you're about in the same boat. If nothing else, you can get some collateral out of it later - if he knows how good he's got it.
