Too cold, too cold!

I think the bees are starting to have cabin fever. The temps were in the 40's this weekend and when I went out to check on the hive entrance I found it completely blocked with dead bees. I still have the mouse guard covering the entrance hole, so it's a tight squeeze. I used a table knife to clear the entrance and the guard bees started coming out to chase off the intruder. I didn't want them flying in fear they'd chill and not make it back to the hive so I hoofed it back to the house. To date I haven't seen the massive fly out that I had last year when I came home to find the entire back yard covered with bee poop speckles. Spring must be around the corner because they sure are getting antsy, or I guess that would be bee-zee!
